COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The process of trying to find an architect to design a new Branch County Jail will start next week.
The Branch County Board of Commissioners approved a process last month that would first ask for Request for Qualifications so they can discard those who don’t have the proper qualifications right off the bat.
That would be followed by a Request for Proposals.
Branch County Administrator Bud Norman said during the Commissioners work session last Friday the RFQ schedule called for a meeting that must be attended by potential candidates September5, 2018.
The deadline for submittals will be September 28 with the opening October 1, 2018 Commissioners will then review the RFQ’s either in the middle of October or early in November.
Norman says the RFQ includes 26 questions that potential candidates will have to answer which he feels is part of a broad vetting process.
He initially anticipated six to eight responses but he added it looks like that number is growing.
