DETROIT, MI (WTVB) – The two suspects who stole prescription medication last Saturday afternoon from the CVS Pharmacy in Coldwater and the Family Fare Pharmacy in Albion maybe part of a crime crew based in Detroit.
The Detroit News reported nearly three weeks ago that a $1,000 reward was being offered by Crime Stoppers of Michigan for 24-year-old Deaire Deshawn Brown, who is accused of leading a crime crew that has targeted pharmacies and other businesses in five states.
According to the News, investigators think Brown leads a group that has been linked to 78 thefts. Crime Stoppers says they have no weapons and use minimal force. They also switch up vehicles on almost every theft.
Coldwater City Police say two suspects waited near the CVS pharmacy counter until the employees were out of the area and then jumped over the counter and stole some prescription medication. The suspects then ran out the store to a waiting vehicle on South Clay Street.
About an hour later, two men jumped over the counter at the Family Fare Pharmacy in Albion and stole four bottles of Promethazine / Codeine.
Crimes of similar nature have been reported in Ohio, Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin.
The Coldwater robbery suspects were described as African Americans between 5-10 and 6-1 with thin to medium builds. Brown is also an African American who is 6-2, 145 pounds.
