HASTINGS, MI (WTVB) – In girls high school golf, Coldwater won the second Interstate 8 Jamboree of the season Wednesday at Hastings in dramatic fashion. After tying Lumen Christi and Marshall for first place at 192, Coldwater won the meet on a tiebreaker as Elloree Madden’s 53 was the lowest score of the fifth place golfers.
Kelly Warner led Coldwater with a round of 43 followed by Jayla Goodwin with a 48, Taylor Musselman had a 49 and Claire Sheppard shot a 52. Molly Smith rounded out Coldwater’s scoring with a 58.
Coldwater is off until September 7 when they will play in the Marshall Redhawk Invitational.

No. 1 doubles Alec Keplinger/Sam Morrison defeated Lewis/Kerwin 6-0, 6-1
Coldwater won 2nd, 3rd and 4th doubles by default…
In JV action Ryan Sturgeon won in singles and the doubles team of Lucas Jones and Radoslav Vanko won in doubles…..
Coldwater’s next match is next Wednesday when they will host Hillsdale.
Cross Country—
Bronson’s Xochitl Garcia set a course record and broke the 20 minute mark as she won the girls varsity race at the East Jackson Invitational Wednesday. The senior had a time of 19:50.52 and beat the second place finisher by two minutes and 22 seconds. Abby Schwartz finished 25th.
Mario Sanchez was the finisher for Bronson in the boys meet as he was eighth while Alberto Caballero was 21st. The Vikings did not have enough runners for team scores in the varsity meet.
Bronson’s boys finished second in the freshman/sophomore division. Luis Ortiz was third while Ben Thomas Grate was fifth, Reagan Mayer was eighth, Brayden Ransbottom was 14th and Preston Wronikowski was 16th. Abby Ware was sixth in the girls meet while Grace Welch was 20th.
The Quincy boys finished fifth while the Quincy girls were sixth at the Hillsdale Invitational on Wednesday. Eric Butchart was the top finisher for Quincy in the boys race as he was 15th. Also medaling for the Orioles were Josh Pepper (21st), Ian Trall (22nd) and Carter Moore (30th).
Two Quincy girls medaled. Harmony Harpster was fifth with a time of 21:01.7 while Madelyn Allman was 13th.
Both of the Union City squads finished 12th at the Concord Invitational. Owen Needham was 34th in the boys meet while the top finisher for the Chargers in the girls meet was Marionna Bigelow who was 42nd.
