NEW BERN, NC (WTVB) – Former Coldwater City Engineer Charlie Bauschard recently moved to North Carolina and is in an area that is expected to be severely impacted by Hurricane Florence.
In a post on Facebook, Bauschard said he was on high ground “and have a staff of heroes that will restore life (infrastructure) to the community. How often the masses forget about the cost of infrastructure that they don’t see until it is interrupted or taken away.”
Bauschard’s wife Edie says she and their dog will ride out the storm in his office.
Bauschard was hired this past May as the Director of Public Utilities for the city of New Bern, North Carolina. He previously worked for the Coldwater Board of Public Utilities since 2003.
New Bern is a riverfront city with a population of almost 30,000 residents which is near the coast of the Atlantic Ocean.
