COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Two cases filed against an Ovid Township woman, who is facing five charges following a break in at Rick’s Party Store and the subsequent crashing of her vehicle into the Coldwater Walmart store on the morning of May 19, 2018, have been bound over to Branch County Circuit Court.
A Branch County District Court spokesperson says 37-year-old Sarah Siler waived her preliminary exam in both cases.
A Circuit Court arraignment is now scheduled for October 8, 2018.
Siler was admitted to ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital following the crash at the Walmart store. Ten days later she was booked at the Branch County Jail on a charge of burglary-forced entry and released on a $25,000 bond.
Following a Branch County Sheriff’s Department investigation, it was alleged that Siler broke into Rick’s where several items were taken. A few minutes later, Coldwater City Police reported that Siler’s vehicle crashed through the east entrance of the Walmart store and came to a stop near the pharmacy. A customer suffered a minor injury but refused medical treatment.
Siler was arraigned June 21. A probable cause hearing and a preliminary exam in Branch County District Court were delayed for a month because a forensic examination had to take place.
It was determined July 24, 2018 that Siler was competent to stand trial.
