COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – After facing two state-ranked teams in the first three weeks of the high school football season, things do not get any easier for the Coldwater Cardinals Friday night as they will host the Pennfield Panthers at Cardinal Field.
After making the playoffs every year between 1999 and 2013, the Panthers have not had a winning record in four seasons. But they are off to a 2-1 start this season and are 2-0 in the I-8 with wins over Jackson Northwest and Marshall.
The Cardinals will be trying to get back to the .500 mark. They are 1-2 overall and 1-1 in the I-8. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m.. Coverage here AM 1590 and FM 95.5 WTVB as well as on line at www.wtvbam.com starts at 6:30 p.m..

There is no need to hype a Reading-Quincy game. First place in the Big 8 Conference will be on the line Friday as the Orioles host the Rangers. Both teams along with Springport are 2-0 in the Big 8. The 3-0 Rangers are ranked seventh in Division Seven in this week’s Michigan Associated Press High School Football poll. The Orioles are 2-1 overall.
After losing the last two weeks by a total of three points, the 1-2 Union City Chargers host 0-3 Jonesville Friday night. The Comets have lost a pair of one possession games during the last two weeks.
The Bronson Vikings will be looking to get their first points of the season on Friday night as they’ll be hosting Concord. The Yellow Jackets are 2-1.
Also on Friday night, Springport is at Homer.
