QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – A resolution that would set the fees and the application process for medical marijuana licenses in the Village of Quincy has been pulled from Tuesday night’s Quincy Village Council meeting, but is expected to come back during a later meeting.
The Council voted 4-3 last month to adopt a pair of medical marijuana ordinances which followed a nearly one hour discussion.
One ordinance authorized and regulated the establishment of medical marijuana facilities. The other updated the village zoning ordinances for medical marijuana uses.
The resolution that still needs Council action establishes a yearly fee of $5,000 per medical marijuana license.
No more than 15 growers and five processors would be allowed.
The maximum number of facilities would be reviewed every three years by the Village Council.
Only persons with licenses issued by the village would be allowed to operate such a facility. They must also get a license from the State of Michigan.
The updated zoning ordinances would only allow such operations in either industrial or commercial districts.
