COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Eight days before she passed away from cancer at the age of 64, longtime City Council member Maureen Petzko wrote an open letter to the City of Coldwater.
“My husband, John, and I moved to this community 43 years ago. It brought me such joy to see the city grow over the years. I took pride in the amenities we worked so hard to afford you – from the Rotary Splash Park to the Browne Aquatic Center to Music Under the Stars. I wanted nothing more than for Coldwater to provide a beautiful and enriched quality of life for everyone; and I hope in some small way I contributed to its development. Thank you, constituents of Coldwater’s Third Ward, for allowing me to represent you on City Council for the last 24 years. It was my honor and privilege.”
“Thank you, residents of Coldwater, for entrusting me to serve you as Mayor Pro Tem for the past six years. I was grateful for the opportunity and hope I earned your confidence, support, and respect. Finally, thank you, City of Coldwater, for being such a special place to call home.”
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on for Maureen Petzko Friday, September 21, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Coldwater with Rev. Fr. Paul Redmond officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
