ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) – An Angola man is in police custody following a series of home invasions Wednesday night and Thursday morning in Steuben County.
The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department says their deputies responded to the Tamarac Trails addition north of Angola on reports a man got inside of a home and assaulted a female occupant.
She was able to fight off him and the suspect fled the residence.
Detectives from the Sheriff’s office later discovered that Angola Police had two similar incidents during the night.
Sheriff’s Deputies and the Indiana State Police began searching and a suspect vehicle was found along I-69 near the Ramada Inn north of Angola.
Then at about 6:00 a.m., another Tamarac Trails resident reported a confrontation with the suspect who was confronted by an armed homeowner.
Once again the suspect fled which led to a police search of the area. 33-year-old Dwain Horner was finally located hiding inside an outdoor shed. He was taken into custody without incident. Horner was arrested on preliminary charges of Burglary with a deadly weapon, Battery with bodily injury, Criminal Confinement, strangulation, and Residential Entry.
Further charges maybe filed by the Steuben County Prosecutors Office.
