COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Storms that rumbled through Branch County late Thursday afternoon and early Thursday evening left behind downed trees and power lines.
The Branch County Central Dispatch 911 log listed 20 complaints of road hazards caused by the downed trees and wires, mostly in the southern part of Branch County.
The first complaint came in at 4:46 p.m. at Dewesenberry and Bawden Roads.
No significant high winds were reported at the Branch or Hillsdale County airports which are the official reporting stations for the National Weather Service. But there was a 57 mile per hour wind gust reported two miles northwest of Prattville in eastern Hillsdale County. Several trees were knocked down in the vicinity of Lake Diane. A weather spotter at Montgomery reported just under a inch of rain fell.
Over 2,000 Consumer’s Energy customers in Branch County lost their power. As of 5:00 a.m., 156 Consumers Energy customers mainly on the south side of Lake of the Woods were still without electricity. Everyone was back on line by the time the sun came up Friday morning.
