COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A good relationship between Branch County Animal Control and the Humane Society of Branch County has resulted in the county having a zero kill rate for dogs for the last three years.
The Coldwater Township Sunrise Rotary Club heard about details of the collaboration between the two agencies at the Club’s meeting last week. Jan Nageldinger with the Humane Society said her group helps with unclaimed pets from the animal shelter, pets involved in criminal arrests, animal cruelty cases, and assists people at Branch County’s Shelter House in their transition in living situations.
Nageldinger added that what most people don’t realize is that even though the annual vet bills and costs to operate the animal shelter total $270,000, it’s all paid for only with donations.
