OTSEGO, MI (WTVB) – In high school cross country, Coldwater, Bronson and Quincy all competed at the Otsego Invitational Saturday in a meet that featured nine state-ranked teams.
Three Coldwater runners won medals and set career-best times In the Division Two races. Kyle Foulk had a career-best time of 16:42 and finished 19th in the boys race. Kathy Potter and Elka Machan also had career-best times as they finished ninth and tenth with times of 18:43 and 18:44 respectively.
In the final team standings, the Coldwater boys placed 14th while the Coldwater girls finished eighth.
The Quincy girls were fourth in Division Three. Bronson did not have enough runners for a team score by the Vikings Xochitl Garcia finished second in a school record time of 18:54.3. The record board in the Bronson High School gym shows the old record of 19:25 was set in 1994. Quincy’s Madelyn Allman was 11th while Harmony Harpster was 14th as they both won medals. Makenzie Blatter was 30th and Avery Rufenacht was 31st.
Quincy was seventh in the Division Three Boys race while Bronson was eighth. Bronson’s Luis Ortiz was fifth. Quincy’s Eric Butchart was 16th while Ian Trall was 20th as they both won medals while Joshua Pepper was 28th. Nearly all of the Quincy runners had either a personal record or a season’s record.
