COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Athletes in all fall sports at Coldwater High School have a special reason to compete this week. They are all participating in Purple Week activities to raise money for patients at the ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital Cancer Center.
Members of the high school football, soccer, tennis, volleyball, swimming, cross country, and golf teams gathered Sunday on Cardinal Field at Larsen Stadium to receive their special purple jerseys and other gear for this week’s sporting events, and to pose for a joint picture.
Community members purchased the purple attire for the athletes to wear during their events. Many of the jerseys have names on them of people who have battled cancer. Those jerseys will be presented to the donors after the games.
The Purple Week will conclude with a Community Tailgate sponsored by the Athletic Boosters before Coldwater’s varsity football game against Parma Western Friday night.
A complete list of activities is on the Coldwater Community School’s website.
