COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Planning Commission Monday reviewed and sent to the City Council made a couple of positive recommendations for regulation changes for fences and out buildings in the city.
One proposal would raise the value threshold at which a Legally Nonconforming Residential Accessory Structure may be rebuilt and to raise the maximum allowable height of fences throughout the City of Coldwater by six inches.
City Planner Dean Walrack said the value threshold for accessory structures would be raised from 60 percent to no more than 100 percent of real valuation.
The maximum allowable height of fences throughout the City would go up by six inches to four feet six inches within front yards and to six feet six inches in side and rear yards.
The amendment would also raise the allowable maximum height of fences within the C-2 Central Business District to four feet six inches.
Meanwhile, a proposal to raise the maximum height of residential accessory buildings to 16 feet was given a positive recommendation by consensus. That’s down from the original request of 20 feet which was made last spring.
