COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – For the second straight year, the Coldwater High School varsity boys soccer team finished the Interstate 8 Conference regular season in second place, by beating Harper Creek 3-0 Tuesday night.
Mubarak Said had all three goals for Coldwater as they finished the regular conference season at 5-1-1. They will host Parma Western Tuesday in the first round of the conference tournament.
Shaif Ahmed had one assist and Balal Nasser made one save in goal as the Cardinals outshot Harper Creek 18-1.
The game was part of Purple Week at Coldwater High School, with the players wearing special purple jerseys purchased by community members, with the name of someone who has battled cancer on the back. Profits from the jersey sale will go to the Cancer Center at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
The Cardinals are now 10-5-3 overall. They will play at Mattawan in non-conference Saturday.
The Coldwater junior varsity team beat Harper Creek 4-1. The Cardinals got goals from Joseph Closson, Dillion Lawhead, Hashed Abdullah, Drayke Fitch, and Brayden Boyd.
