QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – Michigan State Police say a Quincy Township man was arrested Tuesday morning and later charged in Branch County District Court with home invasion.
Troopers say 33-year old Joshua Hayward was taken into custody around 7:30 a.m. at his home on Jonesville Road. According to State Police, Hayward was named on a personal protection order to have no contact with a woman he was living with at his residence.
State Police said the woman was not at home when she received a text about an hour before troopers went to the suspect’s residence, warning her in the message that Hayward was inside the home with the couple’s daughter. The mother called 911 to report the situation and when State Police arrived at the residence, they say they discovered Hayward lying on a living room couch with his daughter.
He was arraigned yesterday on a charge of 3rd degree home invasion, a five year felony, and his bond was set at $35,000. Hayward is scheduled to return to Branch County District Court for a probable cause hearing on October 11, 2018.
