BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – A group of parents brought up a number of concerns to the Bronson School Board on Monday.
Minutes from the meeting posted on the district’s web site said there were a total of 75 persons in attendance which included 49 citizens.
Suzanne Pish, Heather Dixon and Emily Smith put a power point presentation together which according to the Sturgis Journal listed three areas of concern.
The concerns included having no specific administrator for junior high students since the sixth, seventh and eighth graders share the same building with high school students. The group felt there is a difficult transition for youngsters from elementary school because of that.
They also said there is confusion about administrative roles and responsibilities. The group also questioned the part in the Athletic Code of Conduct which tells parents to keep opinions to themselves.
The group also pointed out several positive things that are going on in the district.
According to the meeting minutes, Board Vice President Jan Byler reassured the community that things have been heard and will be followed up on. She also encouraged the community to actively participate within the school.
