COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In high school football, the Coldwater Cardinals play their final home game of the season Friday night against Parma Western as Purple Week activities wrap up at CHS. The football team will be wearing special purple jerseys in honor of those who have battled cancer, with proceeds from the jersey purchases going to the ProMedical Coldwater Regional Hospital Cancer Center.
After losing their homecoming game to Marshall last Friday 42-28, the Cardinals are 2-4 overall and 2-3 in the conference.
Parma Western is tied with Pennfield for second place in the I-8. They are one game back of undefeated Jackson Lumen Christi. Parma is 4-1 in the conference and 5-1 overall.
Coldwater won the first ten games in the series. Parma will be looking for a second straight victory against the Cardinals after a stunning 28-21 win in 2017 on a blocked punt in the final seconds.

The Quincy Orioles host the undefeated Springport Spartans on Military Appreciation Night. Quincy is 4-2 overall and 4-1 in the Big 8. They are one game back of conference co-leaders Springport and Reading. Quincy needs to win two of their last three regular season games to qualify for the post season.
Union City (2-3, 3-3) at Concord (2-3, 3-3)
In a game featuring a pair of 3-3 teams, the Union City Chargers play at Concord. Union City is coming off a 20-12 overtime victory over Homer. Both the Chargers and Yellow Jackets need to win their final three games to assure themselves a state playoff spot. Of the six games played by the Chargers this season, four have been decided by eight points or less.
Bronson (0-5, 0-6) at Homer (1-4, 1-5)
It will be two teams playing for pride when the Bronson Vikings play at Homer as both teams have had difficult 2018 seasons.
Reading (5-0, 6-0) at Jonesville (1-4, 1-5)
Reading has won their six games this season by an average of 45 points.
