BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – Charges have been filed by the Calhoun County Prosecutors Office against a Battle Creek man in connection with a fatal hit and run crash on Thursday afternoon.
The Battle Creek Enquirer reports 51-year-old Kevin Frederick has been charged with failure to stop at an accident causing death and driving with a suspended license causing death.
An arraignment was scheduled for Friday.
Authorities say his pickup truck struck 41-year-old Trish Albrecht of Battle Creek as she was in a pedestrian cross walk at the intersection of Emmett and North Avenue. She worked at nearby Bronson Battle Creek Hospital and several doctors and nurses from the facility tried to save her life. She was later taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo for emergency surgery but later died from her injuries.
Frederick reportedly spent time consulting with a Marshall attorney before he was arrested.
