COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council will be asked on Monday night to approve a request from the Coldwater Police Department to buy six new in car cameras from WatchGuard for their primary patrol car fleet.
Police Lt. Patrick Beeman says in a memo to the Council that they want to replace the current cameras which are eight years old and are no longer suitable. There are also concerns about connections, parts, service and redaction.
The new cameras would cost about $40,700 and would be put in the patrol cars which are driven every day. Beeman said they were looking for units that would provide high definition quality video.
They were part of this years budget. New in car computers were recently installed as part of the planned technology upgrades to Coldwater Police cars.
