COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council approved a bid of about $24,400 from Excell Paving Plus Monday night for work on the main drive leading into the south side of the Oak Grove Cemetery.
Excell’s bid was below the engineer’s estimate for the project of about $27,500.
City Manager Keith Baker says the main drive will be milled and paved.
The notice to proceed on nearly 22,000 feet of the main drive will be issued on Tuesday. All of the work is scheduled to be finished by the end of June, 2019.
In other business, the City Council approved a request from Coldwater Police to order six in car camera units to replace eight year old cameras that have outdated technology.
Director of Public Safety Mark Bartell says the biggest improvement will be the quality of the video.
The Council also approved an agreement with Michigan Gas Utilities that would give the utility an easement for six additional monitoring wells in the Upson Plaza parking lot that were being requested by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality.
Currently, there are four wells that were required by the Michigan D.E.Q. as part of M.G.U.’s remediation response to the contamination that was removed from the parking lot in 2014.
