JACKSON, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater’s Kathy Potter and Elka Machan again finished first and second in the Interstate 8 Cross Country Jamboree hosted by Jackson Lumen Christi Tuesday, and again led the Lady Cards to another third place finish. Marshall got their first victory of the season.
Parma Western was again the winner in the boys meet, while in an unusual finish, Coldwater, Harper Creek, and Jackson Lumen Christi all scored exactly 134 points in their quest for fourth place in the meet. Counting the sixth runner from each team to break the tie, Harper Creek got fourth place, Coldwater was credited with fifth, and Lumen Christi had to settle for sixth place in the current standings.
Coldwater’s Kyle Foulk finished seventh while John Aerts was 25th.
Jonesville won both the boys and girls meets on Tuesday at the Big 8 Conference Jamboree hosted by Springport. Bronson was third in the boys meet while Quincy was fifth and Union City was seventh. Luis Ortiz of Bronson was the top Branch County finisher as he was fifth. Reagan Mayer was 13th, Brayden Ransbottom was 21st, Ben Grate was 22nd, Osvaldo Vargas was 24th and Preston Wronikowski was 27th.
Quincy’s Erik Butchart was seventh while Joshua Pepper was 16th, Carter Moore was 20th and Brock Martin was 28th. Owen Needham of Union City was 25th.
Quincy finished second in the girls meet while Bronson was fifth and Union City was eighth. Quincy teammates Harmony Harpster and Madelyn Allman finished second and third respectively. Avery Rufenacht was 15th, Makenzie Blatter was 18th, Mollie Butchart was 21st and Rylee Sunday was 24th. Bronson’s Abby Ware was 12th while Grace Welch was 17th. Union City’s Marionna Bigelow was 30th.
