COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A man from Peru, Indiana is facing three charges following an violent domestic incident at a Coldwater hotel Tuesday night.
29-year-old Lance Shotts has been charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, aggravated domestic violence and possession of a non-narcotic controlled substance.
Bond during his arraignment in Branch County District Court was set at $50,000.
According to court documents following a Coldwater Police investigation, Shotts allegedly struck a woman three times during an argument.
Shotts was gone by the time police arrived. The alleged victim had to be taken to ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital for treatment of a broken finger.
Authorities say he returned to the hotel the following day and threatened the woman with a knife.
Police later found him at a local fast food restaurant.
Shotts is scheduled to appear for a probable cause hearing October 23. A preliminary exam is set for October 31, 2018.
