BURLINGTON TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – The Michigan State Police are looking for the thieves who stole a number of golf carts this week from a pair of local golf courses.
Troopers say the thefts took place at the Turtle Creek Golf Course north of Union City and at Alwyn Downs Golf Course in Marshall.
According to investigators, the crooks cut a fence at Turtle Creek sometime Monday night or Tuesday morning and damaged a golf cart. They then stole three additional carts and golf cart chargers. It appears the suspects backed a trailer up to the location, loaded the carts onto a trailer and departed. The theft and damage at Turtle Creek totaled nearly $17,000.
It appears the same suspects entered the ground and removed an additional three golf carts from the grounds of Alwyn Downs Golf Course either on Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.
Alwyn Downs suffered a similar loss. It appears both incidents are related and are being investigated by both The Michigan State Police and Marshall Police Department.
