EATON RAPIDS, MI (WTVB) – In boys high school soccer, Coldwater advanced to the M.H.S.A.A. District Final for a second straight year with a 1-0 double overtime win over Eaton Rapids Thursday.
Despite outshooting Eaton Rapids 26-6, the Cardinals did not score the winning goal until 4:17 left in the second overtime. Mubarak Said got the goal, assisted by Shaif Ahmed.
Balal Nasser made four saves in goal. Including three in overtime. With his eighth shutout of the year, Nasser is now in seventh place on the M.H.S.S.A. list for career shutouts in Michigan.
Coldwater will face Marshall at 10 a.m. Saturday in the District Final at Eaton Rapids. The Red Hawks advanced with a 3-0 victory over Parma Western.
The Cardinals are now 13-6-3 on the season.
