BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – Two new members of the Bronson Fire Department were sworn in and three current members were honored for their years of service Saturday night during the Bronson Area Fire Association’s annual banquet at the Bronson Fire Hall.
Bronson Fire Chief Scott Wilber administered the firefighter’s oath to Nate Caudill and Kurt Beuerle.
In addition, Dennis Wolff was honored for his 40 years of service to the Bronson Fire Department while Jerry Rhinehart was honored for his five years of service and Mitch Swinehart was honored for ten years of work.
Wilber ran down a number of accomplishments and improvements for the fire department over the past year.
One of the improvements came this summer when the department was awarded a vehicle by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources through the Federal Excess Equipment program at no cost.
Wilber said the truck had two 100 watt portable radios which will improve communications.
The Bronson Fire Department has just partnered with Southwest Michigan Behavior Health. As part of a pilot program, Bronson firefighters have been provided with $1,100 worth of NARCAN kits to help persons who overdose on drugs.
