COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In girls high school volleyball, Coldwater won their second straight Interstate 8 Conference championship Saturday as they defeated Marshall in the finals of the conference tournament 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-18).
The top-seeded Cardinals advanced to the finals by defeating Hastings (25-5, 25-8) and Pennfield (25-14, 25-20).
Olivia Foley led in assists with 89. She also had 19 digs and five aces. Tyler Scheid led in aces with seven. She also had 25 kills and 16 digs. Anna Tappenden had 16 kills and 19 digs. Ellory Farmer had 19 digs and five aces. Sam Rodesiler had 24 kills, led in blocks with seven and had 15 digs. Malorie Rzepka led in kills with 26 as well as digs with 33 and had six aces.
Coldwater is now 27-16 overall. They will host Three Rivers and Vicksburg Thursday.
Bronson won their second straight Big 8 Conference championship on Saturday at Concord as they won all five of their matches by 2-0 scores. They defeated Concord (25-12, 25-7), Homer (25-5, 25-10) and Reading (25-14, 25-9) in pool play. They then defeated Jonesville (25-9, 25-17) in the semifinals before defeating Springport in the finals (24-13, 25-16).
Meagan Lasky had 125 assists for the Vikings while Keona Salesman had 33 kills and 33 blocks. Scyler Cary and Lasky both had 17 digs. Ashton Wronikowski had 16 aces and 28 kills. Jolie Smoker recorded 22 kills. MaKensey Jourdan and Paris Outwater both had 14 digs. Alanna Mayer had 11 kills.
