COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Coalition against Domestic and Sexual Violence held its annual open house and awards ceremony last night in Coldwater. The event included the presentation of blue ribbons to three individuals, businesses, and or groups in the county or from the staff at the Coalition who volunteer to assist the organization.
The awards were presented last night to the Basement Angels, Chemical Bank, and the Coldwater Early Bird Exchange Club.
The Angels are volunteers who sort out the many items of clothing and household goods that are donated to the Coalition and then stored in the basement at the Shelterhouse before being given to victims of domestic violence.
Kim Hemker, the Executive Director of the Coalition, praised the volunteers and reminded them of the word they need to spread to everyone as they work in the community and the schools to stop domestic violence and that message is to be kind, be kind to each other.
The open house was held at the ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital Community Care and Conference Center.
