COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch Intermediate School District Board of Education approved a $44,000 bid from the City of Coldwater Wednesday for eight surplus construction trade lots on Thompson Blvd.
The city was the lone bidder for the lots which sold for $5,500 apiece.
The action came two days after the Coldwater City Council adopted a resolution and approved a sales agreement for the proposed purchase of seven nearby vacant lots on Thompson Blvd. in the former Deerfield Meadows Development that are being sold by Jim Weiss at a total price of $38,500.
The city has been looking at extending Thompson and they have applied to the Michigan State Housing Development Authority for a grant to build two single residential modular homes in an effort to provide more affordable housing.
The funds for the purchase of the lots will come from the city’s Capital Improvement Fund instead of the general fund.
