COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A check for almost $4,000 has been presented to the Branch County Sheriff’s Department Shop with a Cop program following the Lakeland Correctional Employee Club golf outing which was held in August at the Bella Vista Golf Course.
Branch County Sheriff John Pollack and Director Kim Hemker from the Branch County Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence accepted the check from organizer Kirsten Losinski.
A total of 33 children were selected last year by the Coalition to have dinner with the police and firefighters. The kids were then paired up with a Branch County police officer or firefighter to shop for their parents, siblings, Toys for Tots and themselves.
The Shop With a Cop program is made possible with private donations and funds raised during the golf outing.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Department, Michigan State Police Troopers, Coldwater firefighters, local officers and officers from the Michigan Department of Corrections take part.
