COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Voters in Branch County’s Ovid Township will be able to cast their ballots in the new township hall on Election Day next Tuesday.
The fire which destroyed the old Township Hall on March 1, 2017 forced township officials to conduct balloting at the Coldwater Lake Association building.
Ovid Township Zoning Administrator Russ Jennings says next Tuesday election will be the first official business to take place in the new building.
A temporary trailer has been used to conduct township business.
The plan calls for the township business operations to move over to the new township hall once the election is finished.
The Ovid Township Board is scheduled to hold its first meeting in the new building Monday, November 12, 2018.
Construction on a new township hall started in April. It ran into several delays which included the wet weather last spring.
The old township hall had only been used for 12 years before it went up in flames.
All of the other polling sites around Branch County will be the same as in past elections. Polls will be open next Tuesday in Michigan from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m..
