COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Fire Department had to respond to a fire Monday morning at Schmitz Foam Products on Treat Avenue.
The product inside of the machinery caught fire which led to a lot of smoke that had to be ventilated out of the building by firefighters. They managed to contain the fire to the machinery.
The fire was reported to Branch County Central Dispatch at about 9:30 a.m. and called under control about an hour later. It was declared completely out about 20 minutes later
Employees who were evacuated were allowed back inside at about 11:00 a.m. and things gradually got back to normal. There were about 20 workers inside at the time the fire broke out. No injuries were reported. A dollar figure on the damage was not known.
The company held a celebration last week of being in Coldwater for one year.
