COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The former Pines Behavior Health Building will not be used as a childcare center in the future.
The Branch County Board of Commissioners recently got a letter from Great Start Collaborative Director Amy Galliers and Branch County Community Foundation Director Colleen Knight, who wrote on behalf of the Access to Childcare Committee that they are no longer able to pursue using the old Pines building.
County Administrator Bud Norman told Commissioners on Thursday that the State of Michigan is using the long dormant land at the back of the property which the committee was hoping to use for additional parking and traffic flow.
Norman pointed out part of the building is still being used.
The Great Start Collaborative of Branch County tries to insure there is a coordinated system of community resources and supports for children under the age of five.
