COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – For the first time since April 17, 2018, snow is falling in Branch County.
National Weather Service forecasters are calling for an inch of snow Friday with maybe another one to two inches overnight.
While there are no advisories in effect for Branch County, Calhoun and Kalamazoo Counties are included in a Winter Weather Advisory until 7:00 a.m. Saturday.
National Weather Service forecasters say periods of heavy snow is expected to develop in the advisory area overnight with four to seven inches of snow expected west of U.S. 131 and between I-96 and I-94.
Wind gusts in excess of 35 miles an hour will lead to areas of blowing snow. Near zero visibility is expected along the lake shore thanks to wind gusts over 50 miles an hour.
Drivers are expected to encounter slippery roads and low visibility.
