UNDATED (WTVB) – The Michigan High School Athletic Association Football Playoffs are halfway through the Regional round, with a number of games played last night in cold, snowy conditions.
Interstate 8 champion Jackson Lumen Christi is two wins away from a third consecutive Division 6 championship. Nick Thomas scored had all five touchdowns last night as the Titans shut out Blissfield 34-0 in a Division 6 Regional Final. They improve to 11-0 and will face either Flint Hamady or Montrose next weekend in a Division 6 Semifinal.
For Interstate 8 runner-up Parma Western, it was too much Zeeland East. The Chix led 36-0 at the half and finished off Western 50-24 in a Division 3 Regional Final. The Panthers finish their best season in years at 10-2.
In Division 2, Portage Northern lost at Muskegon Mona Shores 58-28, and in an 8-Player Division 1 Semifinal, Colon fell at Morrice 40-8.
In today’s games, Big 8 champion Reading will host Detroit Southeastern in a Division 8 Regional Final. In cased you missed yesterday’s announcement, that game will be played at Hillsdale High School due to poor field conditions at Reading’s Barre Field. The winner of that game will take on the the winner of this afternoon’s Mendon-Holton game next weekend. Kickoff for both those games will be at 1pm. In other games of area interest:
