COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Early Bird Exchange Club and the Coldwater Exchange Club Thursday jointly hosted their annual One Nation Under God Prayer Breakfast.
The speaker was Branch County District Court Magistrate/Judge David Coyle, who shared with the gathering what he said was a definition of prayer that he came across recently. In part, Coyle said prayer is the practice of the presence of God, a place where pride is abandoned and hope is lifted and is the privilege of touching the heart of God.
Coyle concluded his remarks by saying we were, and are, and remain and will continue to be one nation under God.
The One Nation Under God project was adopted nationally in 1964 by Exchange leaders who said they were seeking to heighten awareness of our rich religious heritage.
A number of veterans were in attendance yesterday as guests of the Exchange Clubs and Early Bird Exchange member Tom Sweitzer asked all veterans at the breakfast to stand to be recognized and they were saluted with a rousing round of applause.
