COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council is scheduled to take formal action Monday night to purchase vacant lots on Thompson Blvd. from the Branch Intermediate School District as an adoption of a Resolution and approval of a Sales Agreement are on the agenda.
The BISD Board of Education approved a $44,000 bid from the City of Coldwater last month for eight surplus construction trade lots on Thompson Blvd.
The city was the lone bidder for the lots which sold for $5,500 apiece.
The sales agreement covers the proposed purchase of seven nearby vacant lots on Thompson Blvd. in the former Deerfield Meadows Development that are being sold by Jim Weiss at a total price of $38,500.
The city has been looking at extending Thompson and they have applied to the Michigan State Housing Development Authority for a grant to build two single residential modular homes in an effort to provide more affordable housing.
The funds for the purchase of the lots will come from the city’s Capital Improvement Fund instead of the general fund.
