DETROIT, MI (WTVB) – In addition to Reading’s 39-20 win against Edwardsburg in the Division 8 title game, three other teams were able to hoist championship trophies during the first day of the 2018 Michigan High School Athletic Association 11-Player Football Finals:
DIVISION 2: Warren DeLaSalle repeated as Division 2 champions with a 29-16 win against Muskegon Mona Shores. The Pilots and Sailors each finished with 11-2 records.
DIVISION 6: Interstate 8 champion Jackson Lumen Christi won their third consecutive championship, and eleventh overall. The Titans broke a 14-14 halftime tie with 28 straight points in the second half en route to a 42-28 victory against Montrose. Nick Thomas had 28 carries for 251 yards and 2 touchdowns as Lumen Christi finished the regular season at 13-0. They have won 23 straight since Harper Creek handed the Titans a 22-21 loss back on September 8, 2017.
DIVISION 4: Edwardsburg made their return to Ford Field count. After falling to Grand Rapids Catholic Central 42-31 in the 2017 Division 4 final, the Eddies capped off a 14-0 season with a 28-7 win against Chelsea. Edwardsbug outgained the Bulldogs on the ground 382-69.
