COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Battle Creek man who led police on a high speed chase in February 2017 was ordered to spend 20 to 60 months in the Michigan Department of Corrections on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court for violating his probation.
33-year-old Joshua Allan Miller was placed on three years of probation last April and given a jail sentence of one year after he entered a guilty plea to a charge of third degree fleeing and eluding.
Judge Bill O’Grady revoked Miller’s probation Monday after the defendant entered a guilty plea. Miller was given credit for 538 days already served.
The chase reached speeds of up to 135 miles an hour. Miller was being sought at the time by Battle Creek Police after he was accused of holding an ex-girlfriend against her will for three days and nearly strangling her.
After starting in Battle Creek when police spotted him, the chase ended on U.S. 12 near Munson Street thanks to the deployment of stop sticks.
