COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch Intermediate School District Board of Education introduced a number of policy revisions on first reading during their monthly meeting Wednesday.
One policy covers the use of e-mail between board members. In order to comply with the Open Meetings law, board members would be prohibited from discussing board business that is only to be discussed in an open meeting or during an executive session.
In addition, a policy would prohibit the use of social media to conduct any form of board business.
There are a total of nearly 30 policies which have to be approved every year that cover such areas as board powers, public participation at board meetings and anti harassment procedures.
In other business, Career and Technical Education Director Randy Sowles reported a drop in the total number of students enrolled at the Branch Area Career Center from 589 students last year to 504 for the 2018-2019 school year.
The board also agreed to conduct Superintendent Kris Jenkins yearly evaluation from a July through June timeline.
