COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater City Police say a woman was beaten this week by a man, with both the victim and the suspect needing hospital treatment.
Officers say Branch County 911 Central Dispatch received a call shortly after 1:00 p.m. Tuesday from someone reporting a man armed with a knife was involved in an assault that had occurred outside an apartment house on the city’s north side. According to police, both subjects had blood showing when officers arrived, and they discovered that the suspect had allegedly attacked the female friend that lived at the Morse Street address. The woman suffered facial bruising and lacerations.
The 49-year old man and 53-year old woman were each taken by police to ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital for treatment. There’s no word on their conditions and no names were released.
Police say they will be seeking a warrant to charge the suspect with assault with a dangerous weapon and false imprisonment.
