COLDWATER, MI 9WTVB) – Career and Technical Education Director Randy Sowles updated the Branch Intermediate School District Board of Education during Wednesday’s meeting on the A.L.I.C.E. training that was provided to staff members October 22.
A.L.I.C.E. stands for Alert-Lockdown-Inform-Counter-Evacuate and is a federal Homeland Security Department program which was originally intended for the workplace. The training institute is based in Medina, Ohio
The training provides information on what to do in case there is an active shooter or an aggressive intruder and Sowles said it’s a more proactive approach than the previous measures.
Sowles complimented staff members for being professional and serious about it and asking good questions.
Coldwater and Bronson Schools have also had A.L.I.C.E. training while Quincy Community Schools are looking into it.
