UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – Construction work on a new water tower for the Village of Union City is officially under way. A 150,000 gallon tower will be going up next year at the corner of Dirks Drive and Goodwin Drive in Union City.
The old 1923 water tank, which could handle 75,000 gallons, will be coming down in 2020. The old tower is said to be aging and undersized for the Village, which consumes nearly 110,000 gallon a day.
The construction work is being done by Phoenix Fabricators.
Parrish Excavating was subcontracted to work on the foundation.
United State Department of Agricultural Rural Development assisted the Village with funding for the project.
