BROOKLYN, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School wrestling team went 3-2 and finished fifth at the Columbia Central Team Tournament Saturday. The Cardinals defeated Columbia Central 69-6, Ida 43-27 and Sand Creek 45-27 while losing to Mason and New Boston. Both matches ended in 55-24 scores.
Going 4-1 on the day were Hashed Abdullah (103), Marshall Hoard (112), Logan Pike (119), Carter Hoard (140), Matt Gipple (160) and Dillon Minton (285).
Coldwater won a pair of matches Friday as they defeated Three Rivers 57-36 and Paw Paw on a tiebreaker criteria after tying 39-39. Abdullah, Hoard, Ahmed Omar (140), Hoard, Gipple and Minton all went 2-0 Friday night.
Quincy had two medalists Saturday at Concord’s Grover Invitational. Chandler Locke was second at 171 pounds while Keegan Hoffman was fourth at 285 pounds.
Union City finished third Friday night out of nine teams at the Olivet Friday Night Flex. Bringing home championships for the Chargers were 103 Brayton Mears at 103 pounds, Bradley Russell at 119 and Brayton Burgett at heavyweight.
Also placing for the Chargers were Andrew Smith who was fourth at 112, Collin Elkins who was fourth at 125 and Connor Banks who was second at 189.
