COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – An Ohio man who was involved in a Burlew Road home invasion last March will be spending at least 29 months in the Michigan Department of Corrections.
20-year-old Bryceton Owen Vanscoder of Bryan, Ohio entered a guilty plea to an amended count of attempted second degree home invasion. He was ordered Monday in Branch County Circuit Court to serve a sentence of between 29 months and five years with 186 days credited for time already served. Vanscoder must also pay $1,875 in restitution to the victims in the case.
An original charge of second degree home invasion was dismissed in exchange for the plea and a pending home invasion investigation involving Vanscoder will not be pursued by prosecutors.
Vanscoder was shot and wounded during the incident.
20-year-old co-defendant Branden Swander of Sandusky, Ohio received a prison sentence of between 2 1/2 and five years three weeks ago after entering a guilty plea to the same charge.
Swander will also have to pay $1,875 in restitution as well to the victims in the case. He was given credit for 165 days already served in jail.
