MARSHALL, MI (WTVB) – A violent domestic dispute in Calhoun County’s Marshall Township led to the arrest of a 27-year-old woman Thursday afternoon after she allegedly stabbed a 23-year-old man in the chest.
The incident in the 12000 block of 15 ½ Mile Road is being investigated by the Michigan State Police at Marshall.
The suspect was found hiding in a closet. She was lodged at the Calhoun County Jail on a charge of assault with intent to murder. Her arraignment is scheduled to take place on Saturday.
State Police say the stabbing victim was first taken to Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall by friends before later being transferred to Borgess Hospital in Kalamazzo where at last report he was in critical condition.
While attempting to find and identify all of the occupants of the residence, a 25 year old man stopped breathing due to a drug overdose and was resuscitated by troopers utilizing the multiple dose “Narcan” nasal spray.
Troopers believe the stabbing took place after a domestic altercation took place between the male and female owner of the house. At some point, the female used a folding knife and stabbed the male in the chest. The knife used in the stabbing was located at the scene and seized after a search warrant.
Troopers will also be seeking charges on the injured male for Domestic Assault against the same female.
