COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In an Interstate 8 Conference boys basketball barn burner, the Coldwater Cardinals remained undefeated Friday night with a thrilling 53-51 victory over the Marshall Redhawks at the Coach Floyd Eby Gymnasium.
Marshall rallied from an 12 point second half deficit to take a 47-45 lead. But Coldwater gathered themselves and got back-to-back buckets to go ahead 53-49 with less than two minutes to play. The Cardinals were clinging to a two point lead when the Red Hawks had possession out of a time out with 13 seconds left. But Marshall could not get the tying bucket.
Gage McGuire had a double-double for the Cardinals with 14 points, 10 rebounds and five assists, while our McDonald’s Player of the Game Austin Santure had 13 points and three steals.
