COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater man has been charged with possession of cocaine following a traffic stop on the city’s west side.
Michigan State Police say the suspect was pulled over early Sunday morning near Western Avenue after he drove out without stopping from the parking lot of the Old Mill Race Apartment complex onto US 12. Troopers identified the man as 22-year old Jose-Enrique Cordova-Aburto. State Police said Cordova-Aburto admitted to have been using cocaine and also to have been drinking alcohol.
According to a Branch County Corrections Officer, they discovered cocaine in the suspect’s wallet when was being booked into the jail. Cordova-Aburto was arraigned yesterday on charges of possession of cocaine under 25 ounces, operating while impaired, and no driver’s license.
His bond was set at $25,000 and he’s due back in District Court for a probable cause hearing on December 27, 2018.
