KALAMAZOO, MI (WTVB) – In girls high school basketball, Coldwater upped their record to 5-0 with a 54-48 victory at Kalamazoo Central. The Cardinals saw a nine point half time advantage cut to one midway through the final quarter but hung on for a road win against a solid Maroon Giant team.
Tyler Scheid had a huge game for Coldwater with 16 points, 16 rebounds and three assists. Samantha Rodesiler added 12 points and 5 rebounds while going 7 of 8 from the foul line. Carlee Crabtree had nine points, eight rebounds and four assists.
Morasha Wiggins had a game-high 26 points for the Maroon Giants.
Kalamazoo Central won the J.V. game 62-30. Mallory Wilber had nine points and 12 rebounds for Coldwater while Brooke Moore had eight points. Coldwater won the freshman game 48-36. Tasha Pike led Coldwater with 14 points while Anna DeMeester had seven points.
Quincy dropped their first game of the season as they lost to Springport 34-31. Katie Rathbun had 12 points to lead Quincy while Madison Hinds had 10 points, eight rebounds and three steals.
Also in girls basketball, Concord topped Union City 78-34 and Bronson improved to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the Big Eight Conference with a 55-53 victory at Homer.
