COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Michigan State Police say a medical condition led to a one car injury accident Wednesday night on U.S. 12 in Branch County. The crash happened just west of the city of Coldwater near River Road around 7:00 p.m.. A passing motorist reported the accident to Branch County 911.
According to troopers, a Matteson Township resident who was driving alone lost control of an SUV when he passed out after donating blood. The 2008 Jeep Commander was heading west when it went off the right side of the road, rolled over and landed on its top.
75-year old Jan Nielsen was wearing a seatbelt and the front seat air bag deployed. State Police said Nielsen was taken by Life Care Ambulance to ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital for treatment.
The Coldwater Fire Department also responded and was at the scene for about 20 minutes.
